Online selling
How does this online selling work, Bethany?
So many consignors say that selling online is easier than prepping for in-person, because you only BRING WHAT YOU SELL! Here’s the general overview:
After you register, you’ll click “Menu”, and then “Work with Consigned Inventory”. There is a mobile or laptop version to add each item information individually, putting the correct category, size, and using the description-line 1 to mention brand and other info.
You’ll also add your price, and if you want the item to be sold at a discount during our discount shopping times.
From there you’ll take a picture or upload a pic collage of your item and click the box “ready to be sold online”.
We’ll have a date where I will lock and export all of the items that are ready to be sold online, so I can build out our shopping website. Until then, you can edit/delete/add any items that you want as you’re working with your inventory. IMPORTANT: Once an item is exported, you can not edit or delete the item. You can continue to add items that I’ll later export to the online store, but you won’t be able to make changes to things that are already exported.
From there, you’ll get a link for EARLY PRESALE CONSIGNOR SHOPPING so you can get first dibs on items before we have other online presales and open to the public, and we’ll chat about what to do after the sale is over below. :)
Are there any item limits for online?
NO!!! We’re so excited about this-no item or seasonal limits for selling online! If you have 1 million new born items, you can list them! Want to get rid of all your Christmas decor? Add them online!
Please remember: when we’re talking about NO limits, we aren’t saying that you can sell items that are on recall (think Fisher Price sleep loungers and bumbo seats without the safety strap. Those are still off limits).
Do you have any tips on how to enter items?
We recommend that you utilize the first line description to include the BRAND, since many mamas are searching for brands like Patagonia, Lego, AK Chicks, VTech, Bob, Carhardt, Under Armour, Tea, Matilda Jane, etc. Also make sure you add a good description so if someone searches “stroller, or blocks, fleece, PJs, etc”, your item will pop up!
PICTURES: There’s 2 great ways to do this-the first way is to enter your items using your smart phone, and then take a pic of the item as you’re entering it and then add it to your inventory. The other way is to take your pics of your items and then add them as you’re in the carpool line at school, or whenever you have the time. Make sure you have good details/info of your item pictures so you remember the size, brand, etc!
What is the % for online selling?
Our base % for our online and in-person sales are 65%, where each family pays the sale a 35% facilitator fee for hosting and marketing the sale, which helps pay for the overhead and the family retains 65% of their sold item price. Our online sale will have a new CONSIGNOR BONUS of 5% if there are
No item errors (incorrect size, brand, accidental duplicate item, etc.) once the first Shopify upload has occurred
No items that are rejected for excessive quality control issues from the order auditors during/after drop off.
No items that are rejected for excessive quality control issues from Shoppers at pick up
Please make sure you are taking some time to review your inventory so that everything is accurate, and slowing down during item entry helps reduce errors, which take more time to fix later. We want this sale to have a great reputation of quality gently used items, and continued excessive quality control issues will result in additional item fees and the potentially not being allowed to continue selling in the future. REMEMBER-if you wouldn’t be delighted to purchase your item after shopping online, then it shouldn’t be entered. Lets help each other out!
What’s the benefit of marking something “discount”?
SOOOOO MANY, mama! Historically, we sell 25-40% of items at a discount, and it’s an extra way to make sure your item get OUTTA your house, which is what this is all about, right? You get a higher $, that other family is able to snag items that they need, and it’s really a win-win-win-win-win situation for everyone, right? Plus, sometimes we all accidentally price things a bit high and we are kicking ourselves during the sale (emotional tagging is real, yall! I’ve done it!), and it will end up selling at a discount, phew!
What happens after the online sale?
Each night we’ll upload what has sold from the online sale, and you’ll be able to print SOLD ITEM TAGS for all of your items that have sold online, with the unique family shopping code on the tag. You’ll attach those SOLD ITEM TAGS to your items (NO HANGERS NEEDED!), and you’ll bring your items to be checked in at drop off. We send out emails with info on drop off, so keep watch on your inbox! If you do find an error as you’re tagging, bring the SOLD ITEM TAG to your drop off appointment, along with the item. We’ll examine the item and see if we can contact the buyer to see if we can fix the problem.
THEN, during your sold item drop off, you’ll make sure all your sold items are accounted for and you’ll put them in the family’s shopping bag by special code (shown on the online SOLD ITEM TAG). Don’t worry, there will be extra help available!
